Microneedling

How do you foresee the incredible unfolding of aging in yourself?  What does that look like?  We know it looks different for every individual.  Our environment, lifestyle, beliefs, and neurobiology all impact how we age.  All the experiences of life can be reflected in the face.  Challenging life lessons of your 20’s might look like long lines traversing your forehead.  Sleepless nights awake with your baby in your 30’s might appear as fine lines around your eyes.  Changing your career in your 40’s might be reflected in the small lines around your nose.  Our experiences are written in and on the body in many ways.  Embracing all the ways in which we’ve shown up in these experiences is vital to moving forward in life.  Yet, we live in a society that values the idea of “anti-aging”.  Youthfulness is promoted and old age is feared.

My challenge has been to accept and embrace all the things that show the valiant life I’ve lived as well as to feel good in my skin and about my skin.  One tool that helps me with this is Microneedling. Microneedling is a skin treatment that improves the texture and the feel of the skin.  It uses an electronic pen-like device that oscillates, pressing multiple small needles into the skin to create tiny channels. This promotes the skin’s own healing and production of collagen and elastin.

Along with the needling, the use of serums and hyaluronic acid is applied to hydrate and feed the skin to create a glowing, nourished, and healthy look.  Research shows that microneedling increases absorption of topicals up to 1000% in the 24 hours after the session.  Light therapy (red, yellow, and/or blue) is used as part of the session to improve the coloration, and, if needed, decrease bacterial growth for acne prone individuals.

What does Microneedling Treat:

  • Acne

  • Fines Lines & Wrinkles

  • Dark Spots

  • Scars

  • Loose Skin

  • Texture

What to expect:

  • Facial style treatment with application of serums and mask

  • Relaxing environment in which to receive the treatment

  • Slight discomfort during needling, although depths are minimal, everyone feels pain on different levels

  • Infrared and Red light therapy after the needling

  • 24 hours of possible redness

  • 4 to 6 Treatments to see clear results

  • Treatments have been shown to last up to 4 years without maintenance

  • Can only be done once a month

Post Treatment:

  • No sun for 24 hours

  • No oils on the area for 24 hours

  • No Retinol 2-4 days after

  • May need to massage water onto face if experience “peeling” look. The peeling is the hyaluronic acid coming to the surface and can be reabsorbed into the skin with the addition of water.

Microneedling requires a prior 20-minute free consultation. Best results are seen in 30-60's age range.

Nanoneedling, is an adjunct treatment to microneedling that uses the same pen-like device but has no needles. The “stamper” like head creates a massage sensation on the face that presses the serums deeper into the epidermis (the top layer of skin) to improve absorption rates of topicals up to 97%. It can assist in pigmentation reduction, increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation and an immediate glow with no downtime. This treatment can be done weekly to exfoliate the skin and improve hydration. Treatments are similar to Microneedling where you get a facial like experience along with light therapy.
